New York Themed Bedroom Decor
New York is famous for being the city that never sleeps. If you've ever visited you'll know just how special a place it is. For us it is the city where we got married on my husband's 40th birthday and celebrated 4th July watching the fireworks on our hotel balcony.
Due to it being "our special place" we have started to add a few (or more than a few) New York decorations and ornaments to our home. Almost every room has something whether it be a picture frame, fridge magnet or snow globe.
If you are looking to create a New York themed bedroom I have a few suggestions on how you could achieve this and without spending a fortune too – which is always an added bonus in my opinion. You could add…
Bedding or a throw
If you are planning to make your bed the focal point of the room adding a duvet set or a throw that features New York. We recently bought a set that features all the iconic buildings from New York. It is subtle but still makes a statement and I absolutely love it. If this isn't for you why not look for a bedding set that features one of the many New York skylines.
Wall Art
One way to add style and sophistication to a themed room is to add wall art. Whether you decide on just one picture or fill a wall you can be sure that you will find it hard to choose the right New York image. I'm a fan of black and white photography but I also love poster art too so would try to mix the two where possible. We already have a number of pictures in our hallway that feature views from Top of the Rock, a subway map and the view from Dumbo (down under Manhattan Bridge). They are all black and white prints in black frames. They look great in our grey hallway and we often get compliments about them from our family and friends.
Accessories
Adding lampshades, curtains or a rug would all add to the theme of the room. If these stand out too much for you why not add a couple of small ornaments or picture frames instead so that they add a more subtle vibe to the room instead. Whilst we were in New York we picked up a snowglobe and a New York Picture frame and although they are 100% tourist souvenirs they also aren't tacky or cheap looking and compliment our other pictures and ornaments in the room.
Add as many or as few items as you like – it's your room and you can make your theme as subtle or out there are you like.
